This Privacy Statement also applies to the mobile applications operated by Advection that link to or otherwise display this Privacy Statement (collectively, along with the Advection websites, the “Sites”).
Advection provides solutions for delivering, optimizing, securing, and marketing online content. In providing the solutions that support this business, Advection generally serves as a conduit for information controlled by others. This Privacy Statement does not govern how we treat such information, which we handle subject to our contracts with our customers and which we may use to provide, maintain, protect, develop, and improve our solutions.
Advection and its service providers (i.e., companies that perform business operations on Advection’s behalf, such as mailing, ad management, web analytics, data processing, or marketing) may collect information that you provide when you use the Sites, including when you contact Advection with a question, comment, or request; enter a search term on the Sites; chat with an Advection online representative; subscribe to an Advection newsletter or publication; or register for an event or training. The information you provide to us may include, but is not limited to, your name, your contact information, your employer, your username and password, your registration code, and other information you choose to provide to us.
Advection and its service providers may automatically collect certain information from your computer or mobile device over time and across different online services when you use the Sites. That information may include the Internet Protocol address associated with your computer or device, the domain name of your Internet Service Provider, the type of device you use to access the Sites, the browser you use to access the Sites, the operating system on your computer or device, the content or pages you view on the Sites, the operating system of your computer or device, device identifiers associated with your mobile device, the duration of time that you use the Sites, and the content you view immediately before and after you access the Sites. Subject to applicable laws, Advection may collect information about you from publicly or commercially available sources and combine that with the information that we collect when you use the Sites. That information may include your name, contact information, interests, and demographics. Advection may use the combined information as disclosed in this Privacy Statement, including to contact you with offers that we feel may be of interest to you. Advection will not sell, rent, or lease information collected via the Sites that can reasonably identify you except as described in this Privacy Statement. Advection may share the information:
Advection may provide message boards, blogs, chat rooms, or other interactive forums on the Sites. If you post messages, photos, or other content via those forums, that information may be read, collected, or used by others who visit the forums. We do not control how the people outside Advection who receive that information will use or share that information. Please use caution when sharing information about yourself or others. And note that our interactive forums may be governed by additional rules and terms of use that we make available to you.
The Sites may contain links to content or integrated content (like embedded videos) provided by third parties. The information practices of those third parties may differ from Advection’s. You should consult the privacy policies of any third party that provides content that you access through the Sites as Advection does not have control over the information that they collect, use, or share. Because your web browser may obtain integrated content directly from third-party servers, the third parties may be able to collect information as if you had visited their sites directly. These third parties may use the information they collect to track your online activities over time and across various websites.
We may include applications (or “widgets”) from social media providers that allow you to follow or interact with us on social media platforms. These widgets, such as a Twitter “Share” or “Favorite” button, are visible to you on the web page you visit. When you use these widgets or when you are logged in to those platforms, the respective social media providers may be able to collect information about your use of the Sites. Please visit the applicable social media network’s privacy policy to better understand their data collection practices and choices they make available to you. The privacy policy of the social media network controls the collection, use and disclosure of all personal information transmitted to that network. Depending upon your privacy settings with the social media providers, we may be able to collect information from your profile when you interact with the widgets.
Advection processes information collected via the Sites primarily in the United States, and the processing is inter alia subject to the laws of the United States. The United States may not offer the same protections for your information as those provided in your country of residence. In addition, we may transfer your information outside the United States to Advection affiliates, business partners, and service providers located in other countries. Information stored in the United States or other countries may be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities in those jurisdictions. Wherever the information is stored, we take reasonable steps to protect information in accordance with this Privacy Statement. By using the Sites, you consent to Advection processing information in and transferring information to the United States and other countries.
Advection strives to maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to safeguard the information collected from the Sites against loss, and unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no information system can be 100% secure. Advection cannot, therefore, guarantee the absolute security of your information. Advection is not responsible for the security of information you transmit to the Sites over networks that Advection does not control, including the Internet and wireless networks.
You can always choose to not provide Advection with information. Advection may not be able to fulfill your requests or process your transactions if you do not provide certain required information.
If you purchase a solution or service on the Sites and do not wish Advection to use or share information that reasonably identifies you except to provide the solution or service, you may submit your request via the Marketing channel listed in the “Contact Advection” section below.
If you do not wish Advection to share your information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, you may opt out by submitting a request via the Marketing channel listed in the “Contact Advection” section below. If we provide your information to third parties for their direct marketing purpose prior to receiving your request to opt out, you will need to contact those parties directly to opt-out of their use of the information.
Advection does not currently respond to web browser “do not track” signals or other similar mechanisms that provide a method to opt out of the collection of information across the networks of websites and online services in which Advection participates. If Advection does so in the future, Advection will update this Privacy Statement accordingly.
Cookies are small text files that the Sites save on your computer or device. Web beacons are snippets of code embedded in websites or emails that allow us to collect information about how users interact with that content. We may use cookies, web beacons, and other similar technologies (in this section, collectively, “cookies”) to recognize you, for advertising purposes, to enhance your experience on the Sites, to understand how users interact with the Sites, and generally improve the Sites.
